Batangas Beaches: Helpful Tips: What to do when you get Sunburn?

When the rainy weather comes in, it’s difficult not to imagine spending your days in a breathtaking beach like here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas. But sometimes, spending too long a time under the heat can get you sunburn, and that is not a situation you want to be in.

However, getting sunburn is not something that’s uncommon especially for self-proclaimed tropical travel adventurers. So in the event you encounter going a little to overboard with your sunbathing, here are a few simple treatments you can do to relieve the pain and recover faster:

  1. Keep it cool.
Since your skin feels hot, it’s important to keep it cool. Do this by putting a cold, damp towel or cloth on your skin for about 10 to 15 minutes, every now and then throughout the day. You can also go for cool or cold baths and showers as those can help relieve the pain from your sunburns. When you get out of your bath or shower, don’t rub your towel against your skin and instead just gently pat yourself dry so it won’t sting. Follow through with a water-based moisturizer or lotion.

  2. Go green.
Speaking of moisturizer and lotion, the best skin care out there for sunburns usually contain aloe vera. Dubbed as the “burn plant”, aloe vera is known as the perfect organic remedy for sunburn and other mild burns. In fact, moisturizers and lotions that contain aloe vera are highly recommended by The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) for those suffering from sunburn.
  3. Drink up.
You may think that sunburns can only affect you from the outside but that’s not entirely true. Sunburns cause what is called a “vasodilation” wherein you lose water from your skin very fast due to your blood vessels dilating. This is why it’s crucial you remember to drink lots of water because not doing so can result in dehydration, fatigue, and in worst cases, heat stroke.

  4. Ignore your blisters.
We here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas truly understand how tempting it is to pick on the blisters you’ve unfortunately acquired during your stay under the beach sun but stop yourself. Leave your blisters alone unless you want to end up with either an infection or a permanent scar. Let those heal by themselves.
  5. Stay away from the sun.
This is pretty obvious. As much as we want you to continue frolicking at the shores of our beach here at Eagle Point Beach in Batangas, we definitely recommend you stay out of the sun for a little while until you’re fully healed. Yes, this means you need to wear clothing that will completely cover your sunburnt skin while you’re outdoors. We also suggest you apply sunblock that has an SPF level of 30 or higher 15 minutes before going out. Bring a travel-sized bottle or tube of that very same sunblock in your bag so you can reapply it every 2 hours.
eagle_point__resort_prenup_03Of course, prevention is still better than cure but it pays to be prepared, right? Here’s to hoping we see you again here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas! Let’s get that skin sun-kissed, not sunburn! Give us a call to book a reservation!
